Jared A. Montoya is an associate professor of leadership studies at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. He was previously a member of the behavioral science department at The University of Texas at Brownsville from 2005 to 2013, where he taught courses in research methods, psychology and the legal system, and the psychology of gender. His research on multicultural counseling, employment discrimination, misperception and Hispanic health has been presented at a number of professional conferences.
In 2011, he conducted a study on the association between physical activity and psychological needs in college-aged Mexican-American males. The study focused on the relationships between physical activity, obesity and psychological needs for exercise. He has published in the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Counseling and Development and the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health.
