Tony Hilton

Dr. Tony Hilton has been the Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) Coordinator at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System since 2009. She has been a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation nurse leader for over 20 years, a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, a Public Health Consultant and program manager at a number of healthcare facilities. She has extensive experience in leadership development, palliative care, end-of-life care planning and ethics, medical case management and home health care for high risk and technology dependent patients.

Hilton is active as a national leader in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) SPHM programs, and is involved in many cutting edge programs to support the safety of patients and staff in patient handling initiatives. Her efforts have a strong focus on changing the culture of safety in health care facilities. She is currently detailed to the Chief Consultant, Occupational Health, Patient Care Ergonomics National Program. Hilton is also the Acting Associate Chief of Nursing Service, Education and Research programs at Loma Linda VA.
